Ahadith about Ramadan Al-Kareem

Assalam O Alaikum !
The blessed month of Ramadan is on its way and almost just 15 days away from us then the blessings of Allah S.W.T will be showering on us and gates of Paradise will be open for those who wanted to earn it and gates of Hell will be closed for people to save themselves from the torment of Allah and devils will be chained so that people may see the truth and do good deeds without Shaitan bringing bad thoughts to their minds. There are alot of Issues/Problems ( Masa'il ) regarding the month of Ramadan. For example issues regarding breaking fast or skipping fast.So I've shared some Ahadith of our beloved Prophet Muhammad S.A.W so that we may be able to get knowledge about our issues and these also tells us about the virtues of Ramadan Al-Kareem.Al-Kareem.Ramadan Al-Kareem 2013 will be IN SHA ALLAH start from 9 July 2013.

Ahadith about Ramadan Al-Kareem
Hadith : Fasting is a Shield , Narrated by Abu Huraira R.A

Ahadith Related to Ramadan Al-Kareem

  • Narrated Abu Huraira ( R.A ) : I heard Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) saying regarding Ramadan, "Whoever prayed at night in it (the month of Ramadan) out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven." [ Rawah al-Bukhari ]

  • 'Abdur Rahman bin 'Abdul Qari said, "I went out in the company of 'Umar bin Al-Khattab one night in Ramadan to the mosque and found the people praying in different groups. A man praying alone or a man praying with a little group behind him. So, 'Umar said, 'In my opinion I would better collect these (people) under the leadership of one Qari (Reciter) (i.e. let them pray in congregation!)'. So, he made up his mind to congregate them behind Ubai bin Ka'b. Then on another night I went again in his company and the people were praying behind their reciter. On that, 'Umar remarked, 'What an excellent Bid'a (i.e. innovation in religion) this is; but the prayer which they do not perform, but sleep at its time is better than the one they are offering.' He meant the prayer in the last part of the night. (In those days) people used to pray in the early part of the night." [ Rawah al-Bukhari ]

  • Narrated 'Urwa ( R.A ): That he was informed by `Aisha, "Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) went out in the middle of the night and prayed in the mosque and some men prayed behind him. In the morning, the people spoke about it and then a large number of them gathered and prayed behind him (on the second night). In the next morning the people again talked about it and on the third night the mosque was full with a large number of people. Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) came out and the people prayed behind him. On the fourth night the Mosque was overwhelmed with people and could not accommodate them, but the Prophet (S.A.W) came out (only) for the morning prayer. When the morning prayer was finished he recited Tashah-hud and (addressing the people) said, "Amma ba'du, your presence was not hidden from me but I was afraid lest the night prayer (Qiyam) should be enjoined on you and you might not be able to carry it on." So, Allah's Apostle died and the situation remained like that (i.e. people prayed individually). " [ Rawah al-Bukhari ]

  • Narrated Abu Huraira ( R.A ): Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) said, "When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained." [ Rawah al-Bukhari ]

  • Narrated 'Alqama: While I was walking with `Abdullah he said, "We were in the company of the Prophet (S.A.W) and he said, 'He who can afford to marry should marry, because it will help him refrain from looking at other women, and save his private parts from committing illegal sexual relation; and he who cannot afford to marry is advised to fast, as fasting will diminish his sexual power." [ Rawah al-Bukhari ]

  • Narrated 'Amir bin Rabi`a ( R.A ), "I saw the Prophet cleaning his teeth with Siwak while he was fasting so many times as I can't count." And narrated Abu Huraira, "The Prophet said, 'But for my fear that it would be hard for my followers, I would have ordered them to clean their teeth with Siwak on every performance of ablution." The same is narrated by Jabir and Zaid bin Khalid from the Prophet who did not differentiate between a fasting and a nonfasting person in this respect (using Siwak). Aisha said, "The Prophet said, "It (i.e. Siwak) is a purification for the mouth and it is a way of seeking Allah's pleasures." Ata' and Qatada said, "There is no harm in swallowing the resultant saliva." [ Rawah al-Bukhari ]

  • Narrated Abu Huraira ( R.A ): While we were sitting with the Prophet (S.A.W) a man came and said, "O Allah's Messenger (S.A.W)! I have been ruined." Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) asked what was the matter with him. He replied "I had sexual intercourse with my wife while I was fasting." Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) asked him, "Can you afford to manumit a slave?" He replied in the negative. Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) asked him, "Can you fast for two successive months?" He replied in the negative. The Prophet (S.A.W) asked him, "Can you afford to feed sixty poor persons?" He replied in the negative. The Prophet (S.A.W) kept silent and while we were in that state, a big basket full of dates was brought to the Prophet (S.A.W) . He asked, "Where is the questioner?" He replied, "I (am here)." The Prophet (S.A.W) said (to him), "Take this (basket of dates) and give it in charity." The man said, "Should I give it to a person poorer than I? By Allah; there is no family between its (i.e. Medina's) two mountains who are poorer than I." The Prophet (S.A.W) smiled till his premolar teeth became visible and then said, 'Feed your family with it." [ Rawah al-Bukhari ]

  • Narrated Ibn Abi `Aufa ( R.A ): We were in the company of Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) on a journey. He said to a man, "Get down and mix Sawiq (powdered barley) with water for me." The man said, "The sun (has not set yet), O Allah's Messenger (S.A.W)." The Prophet (S.A.W) again said to him, "Get down and mix Sawiq with water for me." The man again said, "O Allah's Messenger (S.A.W)! The sun!" The Prophet (S.A.W) said to him (for the third time) "Get down and mix Sawiq with water for me." The man dismounted and mixed Sawiq with water for him. The Prophet (S.A.W) drank it and then beckoned with his hand (towards the East) and said, "When you see the night falling from this side, then a fasting person should break his fast." [ Rawah al-Bukhari ]

Ahadith about Ramadan Al-Kareem
Hadith : Virtues of Ramadan Al-Kareem , Narrated by Abu Huraira R.A

  • Narrated `Aisha ( R.A ): (the wife of the Prophet) Hamza bin `Amr Al-Aslami asked the Prophet, "Should I fast while traveling?" The Prophet (S.A.W) replied, "You may fast if you wish, and you may not fast if you wish." [ Rawah al-Bukhari ]

  • Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah ( R.A ): Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) was on a journey and saw a crowd of people, and a man was being shaded (by them). He asked, "What is the matter?" They said, "He (the man) is fasting." The Prophet (S.A.W) said, "It is not righteousness that you fast on a journey." [ Rawah al-Bukhari ]

  • Narrated Tawus: Ibn `Abbas ( R.A ) said, "Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) set out from Medina to Mecca and he fasted till he reached 'Usfan, where he asked for water and raised his hand to let the people see him, and then broke the fast, and did not fast after that till he reached Mecca, and that happened in Ramadan." Ibn `Abbas used to say, "Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) (sometimes) fasted and (sometimes) did not fast during the journeys so whoever wished to fast could fast, and whoever wished not to fast, could do so." [ Rawah al-Bukhari ]

  • Narrated `Aisha ( R.A ) : Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) used to fast till one would say that he would never stop fasting, and he would abandon fasting till one would say that he would never fast. I never saw Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) fasting for a whole month except the month of Ramadan, and did not see him fasting in any month more than in the month of Sha'ban. [ Rawah al-Bukhari ]

  • 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) used to kiss (his wives) while fasting; and he had the greatest control over his desire (as compared with you). [ Rawah al-Muslim ]

AHadith Related to Lailat-ul-Qadr

  • Ibn Umar (Allah be pleased with them) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Seek it (Lailat-ul-Qadr) in the last (ten nights). If one among you shows slackness and weakness (in the earlier part of Ramadan), it should not be allowed to prevail upon him in the last week. [ Rawah al-Muslim ]

  • 'Abdullah b. Unais reported Allah's Messenger (may peace beupon him) as saying: I was shown Lailat-ul-Qadr; then I was made to forget it, and saw that I was prostrating in water and clay in the morning of that (night). He (the narrator) said: There was a downpour on the twenty-third night and the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) led us in prayer, and as he went back, there was a trace of water and clay on his forehead and on his nose. He (the narrator) said: 'Abdullah b. Unais used to say that it was the twenty-third (night). [ Rawah al-Muslim ]

  • Zirr b. Habaish reported: I thu asked Ubayy b. Ka'b (Allah be pleased with him): Your brother (in faith) Ibn Mas'ud says: He who stands (for the night prayer) throughout the year would find Lailat-ul-Qadr, whereupon he said: May Allah have mercy upon him; (he said these words) with the intention that people might not rely only (on one night), whereas he knew that it (Lailat-ul-Qadr) is in the month of Ramadan and it is the twenty-seventh night. He then took oath (without making any exception, i. e. without saying Innsha Allah) that it was the twenty-seventh night. I said to him: Abu Mundhir, on what ground do you say that? Thereupon he said: By the indication or by the sign which the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) gave us, and that is that on that day (the sun) would rise without having any ray in it. [ Rawah al-Muslim ]
